Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

October 22nd, 2017

A Testimony Received this week!!

Jesus saved me from a life full of fear and hopelessness.
I used to be afraid to live.
Afraid to make decisions.
Afraid of people.
I was afraid when I woke and full of worry when I went to bed.
Hopeless was my name, I called myself hopeless all the time.
I lived my life thinking ‘I will be happy when…. I go on holiday… I earn lots of money….’
Jesus set me free, He showed me His love for me and taught me how to trust Him. I learnt to let go and trust my life in His hands, and now I say “I hope” not “I’m hopeless.”
God transformed my “can’t” into…. “maybe I can with God”…
I still get anxious, I still worry but that’s now sometimes and not all the time.
I thank God for His peace that’s transformed my life.

What is your testimony of God’s awesome transforming power today?

God Bless,
Michelle

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

October 8th, 2017

Margins in Life

I was reflecting the other day about just how ‘stressed out’ our world is and how ‘helpless and harassed’ (Matthew 9:36) so many people appear to be. It occurred to me that God established the Sabbath (Exodus 20:8) as a safe-guard against burn-out and filling our lives with too much hustle and bustle.

Then I recalled when I was in primary school we were instructed to draw a margin down the left-hand side of our page. Have you ever stopped to wonder what the purpose of that margin was for? I seem to think that it was space for the teacher to offer correction – perhaps your page wasn’t littered with as much red ink as mine! – it got me thinking, however.

Are we living our lives with enough ‘space’ (or ‘margin’) so that your ‘Teacher’ – the Lord Jesus – has an opportunity to offer us the correction we sometimes need?

Why not consider creating a ‘margin’ in your life this coming week?

God Bless,
Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

October 8th, 2017

Sometimes, the words of a song are all that’s needed.

The splendour of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice, All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice, Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands, And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end. Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One, Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb, The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names, Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing, How great is our God

Songwriters: Chris Tomlin / Christopher Dwayne Tomlin / Ed Cash / Jesse Reeves.

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

October 1st, 2017

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Acts 2:1-13

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

September 24th, 2017

Celebrate

Over the past couple of weeks we have had two people associated with Crossway North give their life to Jesus. This is, by far, the most significant decision anyone can make in life; to trust in the Lord for life eternal.  The Scriptures affirm:

‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast’ (Ephesians 2:8-9)

‘If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved’ (Romans 10:9).

Recently, we have also witnessed four of our youth being baptized and many youth gathering together at their School to pray. The Scriptures also affirm:

‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up‘ (Galatians 6:9).

Let’s keep praying – God is at work amongst us.

All the best,

Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

September 17th, 2017

Here I Am; Send Me

The words of Darlene Zschech’s song “Here I Am; Send Me” are very powerful and fit in with the passage (Acts 1:12-26) that we are looking at this week. Eleven years ago each member of our family were called by God to start a church plant across the other side of town, in Craigieburn. Each of us responded to God’s call with the words “Here I am; send me’. Jarrod was only in Year 7 and these words were his prayer!! What is your response to the mission field of Craigieburn and beyond today?

“God of heav’n and earth
We long for more of You
Come and meet; with us as we pray
You are welcome, You’re welcome

Holy Spirit come; come in power
My life is Yours, my life is Yours
Holy Spirit come; start a fire
My life is Yours, my life is Yours!

Here I am; send me
Here I am; send me
Here I am; send me, God!

Send me; to the nations
Send me; to my neighbours
Send me; with Your love!”

All the best,

Michelle

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

September 10th, 2017

Welcome to Church

Author, David Watson, wrote in his book, ‘I believe in the Church’:

“Christ came to establish a new society on earth. It was not enough for him to call individual sinners to God. He promised that he would build his church. It would be the most powerful force on earth providing it could be created, inspired and sustained with his life and his love.

For those of you who are here for the first time, today, I hope you discover something new about the life of Jesus, the love of God and the power of personal transformation. Don’t hesitate to ask anyone about anything you don’t understand; they would be more than happy to explain the meaning behind what we do and why we do it.

All the best,

Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

August 27th, 2017

Still Distracted?

Last week, we were challenged about changing one daily ‘habit’ or routine to ensure we put God first in the busyness of our life (Luke 10:38).

  • It may be that you open up that dusty Bible of yours (Matt. 4:4)
  • You may have chosen to find five minutes in your day to be still (Psalm 46:10)
  • You may have resolved to listen to worship rather than the radio (Psalm 29:2)
  • You may have elected to attend a corporate prayer meeting (1 Thess. 5:17)

The big question is … has anything changed this week?

Jesus asked, ‘Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?’ He went on to say, ‘As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock’ (Luke 6:46-48).

God Bless,
Brett.

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

August 20th, 2017

Luke 10:38-42

As I read this passage, I wonder whether I would have responded to Jesus visit more like Martha or Mary? Martha gets caught up in wanting to serve the Lord and while perhaps operating out of a good heart of wanting to bless Jesus, she lets her tasks and preparation become a distraction and it drags her focus away from what was really important. In the constantly increasing pace of our everyday lives where we are busier and busier with more tasks and more responsibilities I find it so easy to fall into the same trap as Martha where I am “distracted” from what is really important in this life, which is relationship rather than tasks and activities.

Unlike Martha, Mary chose relationship; she chose to sit at Jesus feet and to spend time with Him, listening to Him. Jesus said that she chose “what is better”. The challenge out of this passage is to reflect on what we are choosing in our life; what are we prioritizing; where do we focus our energy, efforts and time? Do we put tasks and doing things first? Or do we, like Mary, recognize that relationship must come first, and our absolute priority is our relationship with our Lord, this is “what is better”. As we do life, let us keep focus and not be distracted. Let us choose the Lord, and make relationship with Him our first priority.

God Bless,
Richard Kolega.

CWN LOGOCrossway North Social Media Etiquette
Our North ‘Safe Church Policy’ states; “we affirm that all people have the right to be emotionally and physically safe, respected…and valued at all times.” The growth in Social Media has many positives, but we also need to be aware of our ‘Safe Church’ goals, of which some Social Media posting may go against. Legally, we are not allowed to post photos of anyone under 18 without parental permission. Please be careful not to post a photo of your child in a group with other under-18s in our church without asking parental permission. We also ask that you seek permission from any adult in a photo you are posting online, as a matter of courtesy and ‘safe church’ mindset. This applies to photos where faces are clearly recognisable. It is important that we respect people’s privacy and allow us all to have some control over where our name and image is published. Please contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

August 6th, 2017

Next Week…

Our Worship team did such a great job for our tenth Anniversary Service last Sunday, so I’m giving them the week off next Sunday (the 13th). However, make sure you don’t miss out on what we have planned!

We have a Service including Communion, personal testimonies, Baptisms (2nd Service) and a special PANEL of speakers for our very own Q&A. In the bulletin on Sunday will be a sheet of paper where you can submit a question regarding ‘matters of faith’ for our Panel to consider. No question is off limits and no Politicians are likely to be in attendance (although, they would still be welcomed)!?!? Hope you can make it.

God Bless,
Brett
