March 26th, 2017
This Sunday, we conduct a Service that includes Baptism. In describing what Baptism is I like to explain it in the following way, featuring the vowels of the English language; A, E, I, O, U.
A – Acceptance
Baptism is for those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. It is distinct from a christening in that the ‘Believer’ is the one who decides to follow Jesus (Romans 10:9) not a person’s parents who may lovingly christen their child
E – Empowerment
There is a ‘transaction’ of sorts in the blessings of God and His empowerment to live and walk the Christian faith. Although, this is something less tangible that we can measure it is real nonetheless
I – Identification
Baptism is a way to identify with Jesus in his death, burial and resurrection. We declare our willingness to die to sin, be buried (under the water – full immersion) and to be raised to new life (coming up out of the water)
O – Obedience
Fundamentally, Baptism is an act of obedience (Matthew 28:19-20). It is not a graduation to a higher spirituality or a more mature faith but as an act of early and basic obedience
U – You
There’s no reason it can’t be YOU!
March 26th – Baptism Service from 10.30am
- Closing date for Board Nominations
April 3rd-7th – Youth Groups Camp in Anglesea
April 16th – Combined Churches Easter Service from 6pm @ Salvos3064
April 23rd (Sunday) – Annual General Meeting at 12.30pm
Join Team North in 2017!
We are seeking volunteers to be involved in our youth and children’s ministries on a weekly or rostered basis during the school terms. Due to the new ‘Child Safe Standards’ we urgently require more adult help in our Children’s and Youth areas to be able to offer these valuable ministries in 2017. All leaders/helpers will require a free Volunteer ‘Working With Children Check’. We are asking you to commit this to prayer, to ask God about your own possible involvement and that He will provide all the leadership we need to grow these ministries in 2017.
This Sunday, March 26th, we will be having a Baptism service from 10.30am. If you are interested in baptism or want to be a part of the service, please contact the office for more details.
