Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

July 16th, 2017

Globally Aware

The heart of our Church is local, regional and international, and our influence in each of these areas is growing. Sunday, we hear how God spoke to Lydia and led her and her husband, Paul, to consider preparing for mission cross-culturally overseas with Global Interaction.

http://www.globalinteraction.org.au

In Isaiah chapter 6 we read of how God encountered Isaiah (6:1); revealed His glory (6:3); healed him (6:6); and challenged him to go on His behalf (6:8).

Encounter, revelation, healing, and challenge/call is the very same way God still works today. Is God calling you to something, someone, or somewhere? Will your answer be the same as that of Isaiah? ‘Here I am. Send me!’ (Isaiah 6:8).

God Bless,
Brett

Worship

The Great Multitude in White Robes

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:

“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”’

Anniversary

In four weeks’ time we celebrate together a special Anniversary. It will be ten years since we first launched a public Service here in Craigieburn. Whether or not you have been a part of this journey for the whole ten years, or perhaps only the last ten days, you are invited to be a part of the ongoing journey of what God is doing in our midst: establishing a vital, regional and diverse faith community in the North of Melbourne.

We’re meeting on July 30th at the Hume Anglican Grammar site (100 Mt Ridley Road, Mickleham) for one Service at 10am followed by some morning tea together. Why not consider inviting some family and friends along to join us?

If you would like to help out with some of the logistics around setting up please see me or e-mail me sometime this coming week.

God Bless

Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

June 25th, 2017

Fun!

Over many years of ministry, I have come to the conclusion that life is too short not to have fun.

Sometimes having fun and being a Christian can almost be seen as an oxymoron. Jesus was a fun guy. His first public miracle was turning water in to wine at a wedding party. If you read the Gospels, you find many people wanted him to come to their parties.

The early church understood this. Luke says in Acts 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Notice the importance of being in fellowship and to sharing meals and the Lord’s Supper together.

Today after church, we will devote ourselves to being the Crossway North Fellowship by having a lunch together. We are called to share our luncheon today not just because it’s a good idea but because God commands us to.

So today let’s enjoy some soup and laughter together. Let’s get to know each other better. Remember all are invited to our party today. It’s okay to have fun.

Pastor Rob.

Welcome

Worship

It’s captivating to read through the Psalms and see the variety of ways in which David worshiped. When we pause to ask ourselves what we are doing during our worship times today, we are often faced with several questions. How do we worship? What are we able to do and still be reverent before the Lord? What is God’s desire for our worship? Does God give us the right to pick and choose how we worship?

The Psalms have given us many different expressions of worship, and these expressions stem from David’s desire to worship the Lord wholeheartedly and without reservation. Corporately, we often worship in ways that we are used to and become comfortable with that.

In our service today, we are exploring many different ways of expressing worship to God. Can we encourage you to embrace the change and as David did in the Psalms, desire to worship God wholeheartedly and without reservation!

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

June 11th, 2017

Fellowship

In the book of Acts we have a picture of a growing and thriving new church spreading as Jesus commanded through Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. What fascinates me is not only did the believers devote themselves to studying the Apostle’s teaching (what would become our New Testament) and things like evangelism and prayer, but they also devoted themselves to fellowship and breaking of bread.

Our Tuesday night Connect Group starts with a cuppa, some food and a good laugh for at least half an hour. According to the Bible this is just as important as things like Bible study and worship. Sometimes we view life as spiritual or not spiritual. According to God though, the whole of life is spiritual. This includes enjoying a well made cup of coffee or piece of cake along with laughing with some fellow travellers.

I want to encourage the men to come along next Saturday at Ross Tipping’s for our food and fire day. I also want to encourage us all to come along to our Soup and Fellowship luncheon. Not only will you have fun and get some great food, but you will be blessed with God’s grace as Acts encourages us.

God Bless, Rob

Welcome

June 4th, 2017

Now, But Not Yet

Pastor and Author, John Piper has asked, ‘Is the kingdom of God a future reality to be hoped for or a present reality to experience now?’

He goes on to write, ‘The answer is that it is partly present and partly future. Many of its blessings are here to be enjoyed now; but many of them are not yet here. Some of its power is available now but not all of it. Some of the curse and misery of this old age can be overcome now by the presence of the kingdom. But some of it cannot be. The decisive battle against sin and Satan and sickness and death has been fought and won by the King in his death and resurrection, but the war is not over. Sin must be fought, Satan must be resisted, sickness must be prayed over and groaned under (Romans 8:23), and death must be endured until the second coming of the King and the consummation of the kingdom’.

God Bless, Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

May 28th, 2017

Gift of God

If you take a look online, there are all sorts of links for ‘gifts’.

Online gifts, gifts for Christmas, best unusual gift ideas, exquisite gift ideas, Booktopia gift guide, gift cards, gifts for him and gifts for her, alternative gifts, irresistible gifts, charity gifts, etc., etc.

It actually takes a lot more searching to finally discover the gifts from God that so many of us, as Christians, are more familiar with. It seems as though the world knows little about these gifts. However, I want to suggest to you today that not only has God given us gifts and talents, but we too are actually a gift of God to the world.

Let’s live like the gift of God we are.

God Bless, Brett

Life @ Crossway North – Online Bulletin

Welcome

May 21st, 2017

ADVANCE NOTICE: Keep the day free and invite some family and friends along

I was speaking, today, with the person I have lined up to be our special Guest speaker at our 10th Anniversary Celebration service on Sunday, July 30th. They asked me for some direction about what it is they can speak about.

I replied, ‘I would be happy for you to focus around the theme of ‘hope’? The power of hope; the nature and potential destruction of hopelessness; and that hope (eternal) is what a faith community, like ours, uniquely offers the world.

I ‘hope’ you can join us to celebrate what God has done through us these past ten years and anticipate what God will do amongst us in the years ahead.

 God Bless, Brett
